So, I am thinking about running a Voltron game with my face to face pen and paper group (ftfpnp) using the starfinder rules. The lions would be like TL 20 technology ships with a few extra benefits befitting the might of Voltron. I'll be using more Robeasts than the new series, but not so many as the original series. I want to do some 'mini' robeasts so that the players will have to fight a horde of them in their lions instead of as the big V. I will also incorporate some RTS elements of building up (and/or recruiting) armies to face off against the Galra forces.
anyway, I don't know how to handle the Paladins. Obviously they'll have some really advanced gear. I am thinking there will be some 'crystals' that they can collect to enhance their bayards and suits so there is some gear/equipment improvement as they level. But its the leveling thing... should I create a Paladin class for them to use? If I do, I don't want it to be "the obvious choice" as I would like them to actually level up in some of the classes in starfinder. Partly this conflict comes because I want piloting and attacking with the lions and voltron to NOT be a skill anyone can have... so how do I handle it? There will be a sort of mental link, like the Legendary Defenders, but I want it to be a major factor in being able to pilot voltron. I don't want all the paladins to HAVE to be good pilots but still be exceptionally good at piloting the lions. I don't know if I maybe create a "package" that they get on top of their classes or just a select few feats that they can take (I am leaning toward the latter).
