I think the subject line says it all I am starting to get the itch to play again... I never really lose it, but I haven't PbP gamed in an awful long time and was wondering where others might be playing these days.

I never really lose it, but I haven't PbP gamed in an awful long time and was wondering where others might be playing these days. I just don’t see too many places doing pbp anymore....I’m sorry that time prevented me from seeing this more active. I often think of the many people who came through here...some I keep in loose touch with, others are just gone. I poked my head in here tonight because it’s spring break and I had a moment....I do wish everyone the best and I hope everyone is scratching the gaming itch somehow....

Hey, we had some great times when we could. You played a great Green Arrow. You and the dear Lady worked well together playing the 'couple'. I am sorry I kept trying to 'railroad' you into that story arc with … I can't remember his name... he was a guy who is in the Wrecking Crew... I just felt like I had a great story arc for Greeny and the Wrecking crew... I know, I know... that seems like a huge mismatch... but I was building a "Team Arrow" around him, starting with the guy who becomes Steel and a couple other characters I was bringing in after that... You got uber busy... still, I can't help but feel like I chased you out of your green tights Good times though. Great adventures don't happen very often and its a blessing when a group and a GM can come together, even if only for a few months to make it happen. Though, I think we went nearly a couple years before life scooped you up. Was it your son that was playing Daredevil for the brief stint? That was a happy coincidence for "Team Arrow"... or would have been. May we meet again in some form or another and figure it out that its us

My life changed and so did my free time, I thought as I got older I would have more. What happened though is my sons and their friends wanted me to be their gm/dm and I couldn’t say no. I miss playing GA! I miss those times...you did a great job and who knows what will happen down the road. I will keep this alive and be here if anyone needs anything....after all I am a Ronin at heart!

Hey all! I know it's been a while but just wanted to check in and say I hope you all are well. Major life changes the last few years have left little room for nerdery but things have finally settled down. With that said, the itch for some 5e has been growing in the void where life chaos used to be, had a character kicking around in my brain for about a year now with no outlet. Any interest in those of us left giving a campaign another go?

Sorry for the absence, good Sirs. I trust you dont look unfavorably on me because of it. No real reason for the hiatus... guess I just lost the drive.
Nothing much had happened, minus an insane amount of crafting/sewing, till last week when I got a job offer that I couldn't pass up. So in the very near future there will be lots of studying for national certifications and possible licensing....
I will admit there was a spell there where I gave thought to trying to run something but be never could figure what kind of story to tell.

That's great stuff, LS. Good luck with the studies and congrats on the life progress! Me, I just... don't do anything Not really. I consolidated my alpha rules for several RPG systems into one game system and just recently finished writing it all up into some beta rules for my RL group to test and help me find and edit mistakes. It is a system similar to the Agents of the Dream Lord campaign I was running (Keia and LS were playing it). My group is currently playing 5e and we are discovering that we like it quite a bit. I ran a game when it first came out. It turned out to be a great game with an event in it that we still talk about. But the group decided that we liked Pathfinder better. But we've recently returned to 5e and the group is slowly being won over by the system. I'd be happy to run a story if we could get a crew together committed to play.

That's awesome LS!! Congrats and good luck (not that we irish fey need it of course) on the next stage in your journey!
And PB, you designed your own system?! What's it like? (gonna need it in captain dummy talk too lol)
Glad to hear things are going well in both of your worlds, and I would definitely be up for some (finally finally) consistent rp'ing in the near future. I know a lot of the kids these days are hip with the Skype/Discord/True20/TechnomagicThatRequiemCanOnlySmileAndNodAt. In the event we can organize a consistent group, would that be the way to go? I know it's easier to just type up a post or five a few times a week but would a weekly SkyCord20 block of time be preferable? Just spitballing as I get ahead of things as per usual (a quirk that even the last couple years of hardcore grownup'ing hasn't cured me of lol).
P.S. - Anyone going to GenCon this year? I'll be earning my 2nd Timers badge in just over a month!

Thanks gents! After almost 13 yrs my indentured servitude to Walmart will be complete on July 3rd. The last four and a half years I have been an Optician for the evil empire and am now going to be doing the same work but for the optical shop inside the VA hospital!
If someone was interested in setting up something in Discord o could get behind that, heck even if it was just ooc/chitchat type conversation. I "may" be interested in playing in something if it wont require a daily posting rate

Yay for swapping evil empire for noble profession!!
I'd be down for a GroovyGamers Discord group chat thing.
As far as a campaign goes, instead of a daily posting style, what if it was a weekly hour or more block of time everyone could set aside or something. That would help keep the energy up and make it consistent-er maybe? Similar to a FtF campaign approach that way.

Alright, at least the proverbial ball is slightly rolling. Side not, if anyone wants to take away this hellspawned humidity and sicknes that's blanketed me the last two days I seek out Excalibur and give it to you.

I'm willing to do whatever. I've only done one over the internet game. The group met online for about 3 to 4 hours about 4 or 5 times... years ago! it was way back when the first EverQuest MMORPG was the big thing... so... like 18 years ago or something. Someone in the group had a host system that he paid for and the rest of us were able to just download a client. It gave us VOIP and Text Options. It provided a 'white board' to load maps and avatars onto to move around. I've seen some pretty amazing systems come down the pipe for this kind of gaming, where character sheets are uploaded and you just click on the skill you wanted to use and it rolls up and adds in everything... pretty sweet and probably expensive. I'm not well versed in any of that. Don't necessarily need all of that. VOIP chats like Discord could be perfect. I think it even allows you to post up images, such as a battle map and what not. I don't care how it happens as long as I can post a few pictures (I like to post pics of villains and NPCs as you probably know if you've played in any of my games, which both of you have.) Finding a good time is always difficult, especially with differing time zones. But that's not impossible. It would be fun to do a game like that... especially with some of you guys that I've "known" for years (decades, plural, now?) to talk and what not. Sadly, we have to hope for someone to wander back here to see that this might be a possibility. Maybe LS has contact with a couple people, like Keia. Heck, both of you were in my very long running Assassins of Enberton Adventure from Groovy Gamers... though, I believe you both joined in progress. Now that was a LONG time ago. And that adventure went on for about 7 years! of course, in Play by Post gaming time, that's like 20 hours of gaming or something I always liked PbP because when I wanted, I could really write up in depth descriptions. People COULD read it... probably mostly just skimmed through... I sometimes feel rushed when I'm face to face and I've got a big block of text to read through and I'm seeing everyone's faces... and how bored they are LOL anyway... I'm up for however we can work this out, including just being a player rather than GMing if someone else wanted to take the reigns.

Oh... and Req... the system is... different than most RPGs that you've played. I dislike that I 'settled' on 'gimmick' dice but they really are the best way to run the system... and you don't actually need them because you can roll normal d6s with the following results Roll = Result 1-3 = 0 pips 4-5 = 1 pip 6 = 2 pips + roll another die + gain a "Tic" Tics are the system's "experience" You might roll 3 to 5 dice on any given roll and rolls are 'open ended' because of the 'roll another die' on a six. So on any given roll, you could earn a few tics at a time... in beta, just 5 tics earn an "Improvement Point" for faster character development... not sure what it will be for 'normal gaming'... I'm thinking 10 tics per Improvement Point. There are 10 Attributes the ADVENTURER Attributes. I kind of hate getting away from attribute names people are used to, but I like that they spell out ADVENTURER Awareness (perception) Deftness (fine motor skills) Vigor (Strength) Essence (mystical energy whose use is based on the setting... the Force in Star Wars, Arcane Energy for magic in Fantasy, etc) Nimbleness (gross motor skills) Triumph (like 'luck' but more based on a 'hero point' kind of thing) Understanding (Intelligence) Robustness (Constitution) Ethos (Charisma) Resolve (Will Power) What I finished is a "Core system" which is basically good for playing Action Adventure Movie type games or Pulp style stories. There will be "Genre Books" that will delve into the various settings of the various novels I've tried to write... the aforementioned "Agents of the Dream Lord" setting which is a kind of steam punk, flying airship setting I came up with specifically for LS based loosely on our shared love of the movie Stardust. Though, I added the whole "Dream Lord" thing being in the realm of dreams and magic is mostly the reshaping of dreams... a Fantasy setting based around the world you played in for the Assassins of Enberton adventure... a superhero world. I don't know if either of you were in the short lived Prometheus Academy adventure I was running... but that superhero universe I would do if I was my own comic book company... and so on and so forth. The system uses "classes" but you can actually completely avoid playing a "class" if you wanted so you could branch out more. Anyway... I am populating it with pictures (none I own) for my initial beta testing and looking to purchase/acquire art for the pages for actual distribution... if I can ever get the ball down the field that far

Ahhh the Enberton campaign, one of my fondest gaming memories. Celebros the noble elvish monk on an epic quest to...babysit a stereotypical halfling named Gemble as it turned out. Good times That sounds like a cool homemade system PB!! Has a real old school sort of feel to it! Yeah getting a couple more on board would be nice for an online campaign, anyone still lurking in the wings we could reach out to? Perhaps Enberton alum would be interested in a 5e reboot of that campaign? I sympathize with your FtF exposition anxiety PB, it's the absolute worst even if most of the times it's never as bad as your brain makes it.
