*opens up the dusty mystical box in his closet where all his unused system books are stored*
I have (that I'd be interested in)...
-The One Ring -Promethean: The Created -Werewolf: The Forsaken -Changeling: The Lost
aaaaaaand....
Shadowrun 4th Edition! Whew, thought I'd lost it.
If PB put a gun to my head (again), I'd have to favor Shadowrun over Warhammer.

I’d love either warhammer or shadowrun but I don’t own the Rulebooks... 😬

I’d love either warhammer or shadowrun but I don’t own the Rulebooks... 😬 It’s been decades since I played James Bond...SAS, I have both versions but didn’t really appreciate the game.

We’ve also been dabbling with the new Alien game if that peeks anyone’s curiosity...it’s a lot of fun! Well more for me but so far early stages no deaths but only spooky exploration so far!

I won’t run anything other than 1st...I think the later editions just became way to confusing to run. Played 4th and 5th a few times but then rules just didn’t sit like the old 1st or 2nd did.

Reading the rules to 1st edition... seems like most systems that Magic is overrated. I was thinking of some kind of spellcaster but it is a cyber-tech world and the lure of a cybered out death merchant is just so compelling.

Hell here we just took the templates and jiggered them a bit using the rules provided. This Friday is our first run! That is unless Aliens takes front seat bumping Shadowrun out again....

I’ll need to be sent back to work so I’ll have time to read up on the rules.

I don't know... I might still go with magic because most might not... unless one of you lot are dying to use it because you are well versed in its use... it seems more dangerous to the caster than those he uses it on, though. I mean, a fireball spell is a D4 Drain spell... it can do the same damage to a group of targets as a simpler Powerball spell (which is an S2 drain spell) or the easier Manaball (S1 drain) which is the same thing but ONLY affects living things. Both do the same damage (L2, which is Light damage with a staging of 2) Right off, the S (serious) is a level less damage/drain than the D (Deadly) but the big deal is the staging of both... Manaball is only 1, Powerball is only 2, but Fire Ball is 4! this means you need to get a number of successes equal to the staging to push damage up (if attacking) or down (if saving both in an attack against you or as the caster saving from Drain damage) of 4 per LEVEL of the damage rating... so to save from casting a Fireball so that you do no damage to yourself is 16 successes!!!! While Powerball is only 6 successes and Manaball is only 3 to take no drain. Now, if you read all that, its OK that you might not do magic because that has to do with regular damage anyway... an assault rifle has a damage code of 4M3... the M means Medium damage (the scale is Light, Medium, Serious, and Deadly. Light deals 1 box, medium deals 3 boxes, Serious deals 6 boxes and deadly deals all remaining boxes) The 3 (as mentioned before) is the staging... staging is how many successes are required to push the damage up (or down in a save). So if you roll at least 3 successes firing the assault rifle, you push the damage up to Serious.. if you rolled 6, it becomes Deadly. (After deadly, it starts to negate armor). The 4 relates only to the person trying to save from the damage as that is the target number he needs to roll to save from damage. Staging is the same. (The attack target number is based on range plus whatever other modifiers might come into play). SO... can someone more well versed in the system confirm for me that the way I am figuring this all up is actually how it goes?
